Allison Peterson

Allison Peterson lives in Wichita, Kansas.  She taught her five daughters the Suzuki Violin Method beginning at the age of three. They began performing together as a family, often with their grandmother, aunts and cousins. Allison currently performs together with her daughters and enjoys playing both classical and modern styles for various weddings, holiday parties, churches, and corporate events.  Some of their more frequented venues are Botanica Gardens of Wichita, Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Wichita Country Club, Crestview Country Club, The Wichita Art Musem , The Petroleum Club,  Noah's Event Venue,  StoneHill Barn of Augusta,  Distillery 244 in Old Town,  Exploration Place,  The Scottish Rite Temple,  The Hyatt,  The Hudson,  and The Bartlett Arboretum.

Allison has been entertaining in the greater Wichita area her entire life. She began performing with her parents and nine brothers and sisters as the “Scheer Delights”. Family has always been integral in her life as a musician.  Allison’s two older sisters, Valerie Sullivan and Dana DeKalb, began teaching her violin at an early age.  She continued her studies with Tiberius Klausner at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, followed by a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from Wichita State University. Her vocal teachers included George Gibson, David Weber and more recently, Charleen Ayers.

Professionally, Allison has played as a member of Uptown Violins where she has performed at  The Orpheum Theater for the Wichita Collegiate Schools’ 50th Anniversary Gala Performance as well as their 2017 Gala at the Mark Arts Theater. She also has performed at  Wichita's Autumn and Art Festival in Bradley Fair in 2017, and The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City for their Gallery Jam, Party Arty,  and Third Thursdays. She has also spent some time performing in Dallas at The Shops at Clearfork , The Ashton Gardens, and  Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. Allison has also performed in the Wichita Symphony and the Richardson Symphony of Texas. Singing at Carnegie Hall with her church choir was a noteworthy performance. She enjoys participating as a violinist in the Wichita Grand Opera, previous productions include “The Pearl Fishers”, “Barber of Seville”, “William Tell “, and “Tosca”.  Some of her highlight orchestral performances were playing in the orchestra for Placido Domingo, Pavorotti, Josh Groban, Chris Mann and at Tabor College performing the Messiah.  In Dec. 2013 she played in the orchestra for the world-renowned Celtic Women.. 

Allison is also part of the Cantabile String Quartet of Wichita, which also plays for many wedding and corporate events such as Intrust Bank, Aerospace Club, theHaysville Chamber of Commerce, and the Orthopedic Surgeon Conference in 2017  with Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Alan Bishop, who also plays the  oboe professionally..

Allison along with teaching her own children is a prominent violin teacher in the Wichita area instructing in the Suzuki Violin Method. In 2016 she and her family shared a missions trip teaching violin at a Vacation Music Camp at an orphanage ( St. Mary Kevins Orphanage) in Uganda, Africa. She and fellow Uptown Violin members Sheree Lutz and Brittany Peterson  together created and taught the curriculum for these students. It was an amazing experience!
